COMMUNITY SERVICE
Texas Tech Athletics is committed to serving the community that supports them. Through community
service activities the Red Raider student athletes are able to give back to the community that cheers
them to victory. By giving back to the community, the student athlete also benefits by expanding their
character and experiencing the personal satisfaction that comes with helping others.
Red Raider student athletes participate in a variety of community service projects throughout the year
including visiting schools, nursing homes, community centers, hospitals, participating in the Red Raider
Speakers Bureau, and many more worthwhile events.
The CHAMPS/Life Skills Team Award is also presented annually by the Texas Tech Life Skills Coordinator
in order to recognize the Texas Tech intercollegiate athletic team who has shown outstanding service
leadership in the campus and Lubbock community. The winning team has committed themselves to providing
leadership and service to the campus and the community and serves as role models for Texas Tech Athletics.
