FUNDING THE PRESENT....ENSURING THE FUTURE
- Need for endowments/NCAA allowed scholarships
As is true for the entire university, the best way for Texas Tech Athletics to sustain the growth it has enjoyed in recent years is through an endowment. An endowment account guarantees spendable income annually while the corpus of the gift continues to build for the future.
Texas Tech Athletics offers several different endowment programs to meet your needs. These range in giving from a $10,000 donation to establish a general scholarship endowment to $2 million to establish the Head Football Coaches Endowment, with naming rights.
Whatever your preference or giving aspirations, we would like to help you in creating your own legacy within Texas Tech Athletics.

- Clifford B. Jones Named Position Scholarship Endowments
The Clifford B. Jones Named Position Scholarship Endowment gives the Donor the naming rights to a position of choice on any Texas Tech Athletics Team. This commitment has two donation options.
- A cash gift of $200,000 to establish the Named Position Endowment, payable over five years, or;
- A cash gift of $10,000 per year designated to the Named Position Scholarship Fund for ten years in conjunction with a planned gift designated to the Position Endowment, with a minimum value of $200,000.
A self-educated businessman and civic leader, Clifford B. Jones was a successful banker, rancher, company executive, and public servant. He became president of Texas Tech University in 1939.
The Clifford B. Jones Endowment, created in 1999, is designed to ensure the quality and excellence of the athletic program at Texas Tech University. Prior to his death in 1972, Jones and his wife Audrey provided the first gift to establish the initial Clifford B. Jones Scholarship.
The goal of the Clifford B. Jones endowment program is to permanently and fully endow athletic scholarships for all sports at Texas Tech. To accomplish this, $43 million must be secured. A minimum of $200,000 is required to fund an endowed Clifford B. Jones named position scholarship. At this level of giving, donors create an endowment in support of an athletic position of their choice. For example, a donor may choose to support a scholarship for the position of linebacker, pitcher, or forward.
