Jan. 31, 2010
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's student-athletes will host the second annual Student-Athlete Talent Show on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Allen Theater on the Texas Tech campus. Members from each sport program will perform during the evening.
"Last year's event was a great success and the student-athletes and those in attendance had a great time," said Felicia Martin, Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services. "We have a lot of talented individuals among our more than 400 student-athletes, and they put on a great show."
Admission for the event is $5 for students with a valid Tech ID and $7 for the general public. The event benefits Special Olympics and will include performances from Special Olympians.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for all involved," Martin added. "Our student-athletes work hard to prepare for this and look forward to sharing the stage with some of the outstanding talent from the Special Olympics community."
Among last year's performances were a juggling golfer, a singing linebacker and a choreographed dance by the Lady Raider basketball team.
