Red Raiders Golf For Charity|
April 20, 2000
LUBBOCK, Texas - A group of Texas Tech student-athletes are donating their time and talents on Monday's university holiday to raise money for a pair of local charities. Approximately 40 Red Raiders from several sports are scheduled to play in the annual 100 Holes of Golf Marathon at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
The student-athletes will each play 100 holes of golf and are continuing to solicit pledges that will benefit the Ronald McDonald House and Lubbock Special Olympics. Pledges are also being taken for the Stoney Garland fund. Garland, a former Texas Tech football player, was left paralyzed by an automobile accident in 1997.
Individuals interested in making a pledge or finding out more about the golf marathon are urged to contact the Texas Tech Office of Athletic Academic Services at 742-0150.
McDonalds is the official sponsor of the 100 Holes of Golf Marathon.
