LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech assistant football coach Robert Prunty was named the Big 12 Recruiter of the Year by Scout.com/FoxSports.com, the website announced Thursday.
Prunty, who completed his first year on the Red Raiders staff as defensive ends/outside linebackers coach in 2010, was instrumental helping Texas Tech land the 18th ranked recruiting class (Scout.com) in the country, which is the highest ranked class Tech football history.
Prunty helped the Red Raiders ink 27 student-athletes on national signing day on Wednesday. Tech signed 12 student-athletes on offense, 12 defensive standouts and added three players listed as athletes.
Scout.com ranked Tech's running back recruits as the No. 1 group in the country and also tabbed the Red Raiders group of wide receivers/tight ends (No. 11) and offensive linemen (No. 11) among the top 15 in the country.
Rivals.com selected Texas Tech's class of defensive ends as the No. 6 ranked group in the nation.
