Red Raiders open Big 12 play on Sept. 30 at home against Oklahoma State
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will host six games at Jones AT&T Stadium during the 2017 football season, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday afternoon as part of the league's unveiling of the full conference schedule.
Â
The six-game home slate begins Sept. 2 when the Red Raiders open their fifth season under head coach Kliff Kingsbury against Eastern Washington. It is one of three non-conference contests for the Red Raiders, who will also host Arizona State on Sept. 16 and then travel to Houston on Sept. 23.
Â
The Red Raiders will host Oklahoma State to open Big 12 play on Sept. 30, marking the third-straight year Tech has begun its league slate at home. Tech had not previously hosted its Big 12 opener at home in back-to-back seasons prior to the 2016 campaign.
Â
Tech will play just one game at home during the month of October as Iowa State will travel to Lubbock on Oct. 21. The Red Raiders will begin the month at Kansas on Oct. 7 before making trips to West Virginia on Oct. 14 and to Oklahoma on Oct. 28.
Â
Kansas State heads to the Hub City to begin Tech's final stretch of Big 12 play on Nov. 4. It will be Tech's final game at Jones AT&T Stadium until TCU closes the Red Raiders' home slate on Nov. 18, marking the latest calendar date that Tech has faced a conference foe at home since hosting Baylor on Nov. 29, 2008.
Â
Tech will make its annual trip to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in between the K-State and TCU contests in order to battle Baylor in the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Shootout. The neutral site game will be held Nov. 11 inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, marking the seventh-consecutive season the home of the Dallas Cowboys has hosted the game.
Â
The Red Raiders will close the regular season on Thanksgiving weekend in Austin where Tech will face in-state rival Texas. The contest is currently slated for Nov. 25 but will likely move to a weekday in order to fulfill the Big 12's television agreements with both ESPN and FOX Sports.
Â
Game times and television designations for the entire 2017 slate will be announced in the months leading to the season.
Â
Fans wishing to purchase 2017 season tickets can already place a deposit with the Texas Tech Ticket Office by either purchasing online or by calling 806-742-TECH. 2017 football season ticket renewal packages will be distributed in late January.
