Greg Glaus comes to Texas Tech from Kent State
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt announced Tuesday the addition of Greg Glaus to the Tech Athletics executive staff as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services.
In this position, Glaus will be responsible for the administration of the academic and student services programs for more than 450 Texas Tech student-athletes. Glaus will also be the chief academic officer responsible for providing oversight of the NCAA eligibility process. This position was previously held by Felicia Martin, who is now the vice president of the NCAA Eligibility Center.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Greg join our team," Hocutt said. "He brings extensive knowledge and experience and will help us continue to provide our student-athletes with an outstanding academic experience. We conducted a national search to find an innovative leader who can continue to help us grow and we found him. We look forward to having Greg and his family at Texas Tech."
Glaus comes to Lubbock from Kent State where he was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director in July of 2016. In this role, he provided leadership for the areas of Sports Performance, NCAA Compliance, Academic Services, Student-Athlete Development, Sports Medicine and Equipment Services. Glaus also played a key role with the strategic visioning process as well as general policy creation and maintenance for the department. Additionally, he provided administrative oversight for the sports of baseball & field hockey and served as the athletic department's Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
Glaus has been active nationally, serving as a facilitator for the 2013 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum and currently holds an appointment on the NCAA Initial Eligibility Waivers Committee through 2018.
Glaus started his career at Kent State University in 2006 as a college office academic advising graduate assistant. In 2007, he started full time as the primary athletic academic counselor for the football, baseball, volleyball and men's golf teams. During his tenure in academic services, he worked his way up to become the Assistant Director of Academic Services, and in 2010 he made the transition into NCAA compliance as the assistant director for compliance, before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in 2012.
"I would like to thank Kirby Hocutt, Judi Henry and the rest of the executive staff for the opportunity to join the Red Raider community," Glaus said. I look forward to continuing the culture of academic success at Texas Tech and supporting the student-athletes, coaches, and staff. I would also like to thank Kent State Athletic Director, Joel Nielsen, for his immense support of student-athlete well-being and entrusting me to lead the department's initiatives in that area over the past several years."
A native of Barberton, Ohio, Glaus earned his Bachelor's of Education degree in health & physical education as an honors scholar from Wright State University in 2005, where he was a member of the baseball program. He earned his Master's of Education degree in 2009 from Kent State University in higher education administration, and is currently pursuing his doctorate in the same field.
He and his wife, Amie, have three daughters; Grace, Claire, & Scarlet.
