A pair of cross country runners were named Academic All-Big 12 first team.

A pair of Texas Tech cross country runner were named Academic All-Big 12 this week as officially announced by the conference this week.

Both Kory Mauritsen a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering and Madeline Livergood a sophomore in Exercise and Sports Science were selected to the first team.

"They are just both great representatives of our program," Texas Tech head cross country coach Jon Murray said. "They are excelling both on the course and in the classroom and that is the true meaning of a student-athlete."

To qualify for the first team Academic All-Big 12 team athletes must hold a grade-point average of higher than 3.20 throughout the previous two semesters while also competing in at least 60 percent of the team's scheduled events.
