LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior Brittany Talley attended the prestigious NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum this past weekend that focused on empowering student-athletes to make an impact on campuses.
Talley, a native of Little Elm, Texas, was the only Texas Tech student-athlete among hundreds of athletes and administrators from across the country to attend the conference that was held in Dallas.
"This was an amazing experience that I will never forget," Talley said. "I had the opportunity to talk with athletes from across the nation about the activities they've put into place on their campuses to integrate athletes into their schools and communities."
In addition to presentations from several top leadership experts from across the nation, the conference featured small group sessions on individual behaviors and values along with discussions with national SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and NCAA representatives.
"The biggest thing I took away from the conference was how to adapt my leadership style to different personalities and how important it is to make real connections with people rather than just knowing a lot of people," Talley added.
Talley is one of two Red Raiders currently involved with the Texas Tech Texas Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), joining sophomore Derryn Hebert.
