Texas Tech Distance Runners to Compete at Cannon IV Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team will send a group of distance runners to compete this weekend at the Cannon IV Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana, hosted by Butler University. The meet will run Friday and Saturday with events beginning at 6:15 p.m. the first day and at 1:30 p.m. on day two. The event was added to the schedule this week.

The Red Raider's top distance runners will travel to the meet that attracts some of the country's premiere athletes each year. Among the Tech runners will be sophomore Leigh Daniel and junior Evette Turner. For the men, juniors Michael Njenga and Samson Ngetich and sophomore David Leigh are scheduled to make the trip. All will be looking to clock NCAA qualifying times. The whole squad will return to action February 21 with at trip to the University of Houston and the following weekend at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Ames, Iowa.
