Entering his second year with Texas Tech, Chris Beene is responsible for training the Red Raiders in field events including pole vault, heptathlon and decathlon. Collegiately, Beene was a two-time Division II All-America performer in the decathlon at Angelo State University. He graduated with a Bachleor's of Science degree in Kinesiology and later earned his master's in the same. After graduation, Beene served as the multi-event/javelin coach at Abilene Christian Unviersity. During his tenure, ACU had two athletes win NCAA Division II championships in the decathlon. One of the athletes, Trafton Rodgers, is currently training in Lubbock under Beene for the U.S. Olympic team and will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for this year's team. Beene also serves as the coordinator for the monthly publication the Anchor Leg. The periodical features coach's articles and features on Red Raider track and field athletes is sent out to alumni and boosters of the program. |
