Leigh Daniel Takes Seventh at U.S. Championships
June 26, 1999 EUGENE, Oregon - NCAA outdoor 10,000 meters champion Leigh Daniel (Lubbock, Texas) took seventh in the event today at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 33:02.02. Out of the 22 competitors that finished the race, Daniel was the top collegiate finisher. Libbie Hickman of Nike International won the race with a mark of 31:41.33. It was the seventh-fastest time ever run by an American Daniel will compete again in two weeks at the World University Games in Spain. The meet is a competition amongst the world 's top collegiate athletes.
Daniel was the NCAA national champion in the outdoor 10,000 meters and indoor 5,000 meters in 1999.
