Young to Join Texas Tech Track and Field

LUBBOCK, Texas - Thrower Jason Young (Dallas, Texas)has signed a national letter of intent to join the men's Texas Tech track and field team next year. Young is considered one of the best throwers in Texas and is expected to make an immediate impact for the team at the conference and national level.

As a senior at W.W. Samuel High School last year, he posted a season-best throw of 197'10 which was one of the top ten marks in the United States. Young finished fifth at the Junior Nationals, as well as, second place finishes at the state meet and Golden West Invitational.

"Jason will be a tremendous asset to our team," field events coach Chris Beene said. "His marks from high school already place him as one of the best throwers in the Big 12. As he continues to improve at Texas Tech, he has the potential to contend for a national championships."
