Texas Tech Women's Track & Field Team Signs Four Recruits

LUBBOCK, Texas - LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Track & Field Team announces the signing of four high school athletes to compete in the 2002-2003 season.

Kim Irvin from Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, Texas was inked by Coach Kittley to compete in the 400m dash. Irvin's personal best time in the 400m dash is 54.40 seconds and she is among the top 25 in the United States.

Karletha Cook from Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas was signed by the Texas Tech track & field staff to compete in the 300m hurdles. Cook is No. 3 in the United States returning, and has a personal best time is a 41.97 in the 300m hurdles.

Waco's Tori Polk from Midway High School signed with the Texas Tech track & field team. Polk was recruited to compete in the long jump for the Red Raiders with a personal best jump so far of 19 feet 10.75 inches and she is No. 8 in the United States returning in the long jump.

Bobbie Jones, from Wynnewood High School in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, will compete as a thrower for the track & field team. She currently competes in the shot put and discuss throws at Wynnewood High School. Her personal best throw so far is a 45'8".

The Texas Tech Women's Track & Field Team has recruited well so far this year and Coach Kittley and his staff look for more to come not only on the women's squad, but for the men's squad as well.
