2008 OUTDOOR: Earned All-Conference honors at the Big 12 Championships in the discus throw finishing in fourth place ... won the Oliver Jackson Open with a season-best throw of 182'-5.50" ... won the Red Raider Open with a throw of 169'-06".


HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Wall High in Wall, Texas... Participated in football, basketball, track, tennis and golf while in high school... Track team was district runner-up in 2002 and district champions in 2006... As a freshman, was district champion in discus... Was district runner-up in the discus as a sophomore... As a junior, became district champion, regional runner-up and second at state in the discus... Championed the discus as a senior at the district and regional level, finishing second in the state... Personal best discus distance is 171'-6"... Received honors in both football and basketball... Four-year starter on varsity basketball squad... Earned second team and first team all-district defensive end accolades as a sophomore and junior respectively... Named the sophomore newcomer of the year in basketball, as well as district MVP and All-West Texas as a junior.

Mother Judy is employed as a teacher and is a graduate of Angelo State... Has three brothers: Bryan, 30; Brandon, 29; and Brad, 27... All three brothers played football at Texas Tech... Father played college football as Angelo State and was an All-American in high school... Hobbies include fishing, hunting and sports... Majoring in finance.
