Dion Miller
	Position: Assistant Coach Experience: Fifth Season

Dion Miller enters his fifth season as the sprints and hurdles coach for Texas Tech after spending three seasons as an assistant coach with Arizona State University and two at Washington. He currently coordinates the men's and women's sprints, hurdles and relay events at Texas Tech.

The 2011 season added more honors to Miller's resume. Omo Osaghae was runner-up in the 60M hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships and Big 12 Indoor Championships. Osaghae set the school record in the 60M hurdles and continued Tech's streak of yearly hurdle All-America. The men's 4x400M earned All-America status for the second-straight season. Bryce Brown won the Big 12 Championships in the 400M hurdles and was named All-American along with Jamele Mason. Miller was named Mountain Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for the outdoor season. Four men hurdlers and LaToy Williams (400M) competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships under Miller.

The sprints and hurdles group reached new expectations during the 2010 seasons. Conference championships came in the 600Y by LaToy Williams and Bryce Brown in the 400M hurdles. A total of 21 All-American honors were collected under Miller's tutelage with the women's 4x100M relay earning the program's first All-American honor. Brown (400M hurdles), Jamele Mason (400M hurdles) and Omo Osaghae 60M hurdles) added three All-American honors to the rich history of Texas Tech hurdlers.

The success of the sprints and hurdles group has continued to grow at Texas Tech under Miller, who was named the 2009 NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Mountain Regional Coach of the Year for the second-straight year. Gil Roberts and Omo Osaghae took home two Big 12 titles and three All-American honors between the two under Miller. Roberts won the indoor and outdoor 400M conference titles and finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The indoor and outdoor 4x400m relays earned All-American status and bring back a majority of the runners from both squads.

Sandra Iwunze won her second-straight conference 400M hurdles title. School records were set in the men's and women's 55M hurdles, men's 60M hurdles, 110M hurdles, 100M hurdles, men's indoor and outdoor 400M, women's 60M dash were all set under Miller's watch.

Miller has immediately left his mark on the program in his return. He was named the 2008 NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Mountain Region men's assistant coach of the year as well as the 2008 NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Mountain Region men's assistant coach of the year.

In his first season back, he heralded six outdoor All-American honors and five school records were broken in the sprints (55M H, 60M H, 60M, 100M H, 400M H). On the men's side he coached five student-athletes to All-American status including Tim Foster (4x400M), Shawon Harris (60M hurdles, 110M hurdles, 4x400M), Rodney Mims (4x400M), Omo Osaghee (110M hurdles), and Gil Roberts (4x400M), four Big 12 champions, and one NCAA West Regional. He guided Sandra Iwunze to the Big 12 Championship in the 400M hurdles, the first in Tech history, and school records in the 100M hurdles and 400M hurdles.

Before leaving Texas Tech to venture out west, Miller built Tech's sprinters' program into one of the premier groups in the nation. During the 2002 season, he coached nine student-athletes to All-American honors, namely Ivory McCann, Albert Booker and Jonathan Johnson, while the men's 4x100m relay team captured its first Big 12 championship title.

In the 2001 season, Miller's sprinters shined both in the indoor and outdoor seasons. Throughout both seasons, seven school records were set including two Big 12 champions.

During his time at Texas Tech, Coach Miller has coached 28 All-Americans and led 17 student-athletes to elite status of Big 12 champions.

Coach Miller built on his great success at Texas Tech as he helped assemble the Arizona State track team into a Pac-10 powerhouse. While at ASU, he helped lead the ASU women to numerous championships including their first Pac-10 team championship in the history of the program in 2007 as well as the 2007 women's NCAA Indoor and Outdoor team championships. During his tenure at ASU, he worked with Jacquelyn Johnson, who picked up four multi-event NCAA titles and All-American honors as well as leading four other student-athletes to All-American honors with LaTosha Wallace topping the list.

Prior to taking on the reins at Arizona State, Miller served a short term as the sprinters coach at University of Washington. During this time, he guided the first 4x400m relay to advance to a NCAA championship appearance since 1998.

In 2008 Coach Miller also coached 2008 Olympic 4x400 Silver medalist Andrae Williams of the Bahamas and Indoor 2008 World Champion 4x400m Gold Medalist Greg Nixon of the United States.

Miller earned his degree in exercise and sport science from Texas Tech University in 1998 where he was an All-American. He also captured 13 all-conference honors for the Red Raiders. An eight-time NCAA qualifier for TTU, Miller also qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in 1996 in both the 100m and 200m events.

Miller and his wife, Carol, reside in Lubbock with their children, Alandrea, Kameron and Dionna.
