Lubbock, Texas- Texas Tech track and field competed in the Wes Kittley All Comers at the Athletic Training Center in Lubbock, today. Eight Red Raiders posted new personal bests and junior transfer Daryl Burgess set a new school record in the 55M hurdles.

Burgess, a native of Miami, Fla. and a transfer from South Plains College, set a new school record in the 55M hurdles with his clocking of 7.35. He replaces the record of 7.40, set by Shawon Harris on Feb. 5, 2005. Burgess' time is also good enough to qualify him provisionally for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

Sophomore heptathlete Chad Andrews set three personal bests in the shot put (39'-1.75"), high jump (6'-3.5") and 55M hurdles (7.71). Fellow heptathlete Jamie Robinson set new personal bests in the shot put (43'-10.5") and the high jump (6'-5.5").

On the women's side, freshman thrower Patience Knight captured two first-place finishes in the shot put (44'-4.75") and the weight throw (49'-11.75"). Fellow thrower on the men's side, Harrison Benjamin, marked a toss of 57'-0", a personal best, also good for a first-place finish.

The Tech women took first through fourth place in the pole vault with freshman Amanda Alley leading the way with a height of 12'-5.5". Dana Rosenbladt finished in second with a height of 11'-11.75 and Lindsey Walesheck rounded out the top three with a clearance of 11'-5.75".

Tech track will return to competition on Fri., Jan. 20, at the Wes Kittley Open, at the ATC. The field events will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the running events will start at 5 p.m.
