LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's senior Amanda Alley cleared her first NCAA provisional mark of the year in the women's pole vault on the first day of the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.

Alley's mark of 12'-11.05" placed her second in the event. Freshman Sage Lasater placed fourth with a mark of 12'-3.50". Sophomore Jessie Gibbs was right behind her with a fifth place finish by clearing 11'-9.75".

Sophomore Chuck Zavala sits in second place after the first day of the men's heptathlon with 2,982 points. He started the meet off with a personal-best time of 7.27 in the 60M. Zavala had the third-best mark in the long jump with a leap of 21'-09" and in the shot put he threw a mark of 43'-5". He recorded another personal best in the high jump clearing 6'-6".

Tech begins competition on the second day of the Lobo Invitational tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. MST.
