Tech Improves in Final Meet Before Big 12's

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 18 Red Raiders and No. 17 Lady Raiders received some personal bests and improved at the Texas Tech Quad meet one week before the Big 12 Indoor Championships.

Kyal Meyers cleared a personal best in the pole vault clearing 5.25M/17'-2.75". He is now tied for 19th in the NCAA. Shade Weygandt won the women's pole vault by clearing 4.25M/13'-11.25".

In the women's 55M, Terra Evans won with a time of 6.95 followed closely by teammate Tara Thomas in second with a 6.97. Erica Alexander ran fifth in a 7.12.

Lady Raider Katie Grimes won the 55M hurdles in a time of 7.84. Jamie Simanek placed second with a 8.05. The Red Raiders had Shane Brathwaite place second in the 55M hurdles running a 7.47. Brandon Tucker ran a 7.51 placing fourth.

Kelly Closse won the women's weight with a toss of 19.30M/63'-4.00". Her teammate Ifeatu Okafor won the women's shot put with a throw of 16.36M/53'-8.25".

Jamele Mason led three Red Raiders in the 400M with a 47.15. Gil Roberts was in second with a 47.58 and Bryce Brown ran a 47.77 for third. The Lady Raiders put three in the top four. Taylor Evans finished second in a 53.68 with Candace Jackson on her heels with a 53.89. Erica Alexander placed fourth in a 55.09.



Tara Thomas won the women's 200M with a 24.45 and teammate Jamie Simanek ran a 25.35 for third place.

Julian Wruck won the men's shot put with a throw of 16.24M/53'-3.50".
