Tech Runners Complete Action Before NCAA Championships
March 3, 2007
AMES, Iowa - The Texas Tech runners took part in the Last Chance Meets in Ames, Iowa, before the indoor season comes to a close next weekend with the NCAA Championships. Senior Zach Glavash and the men's 4x400M relay squad were the only Tech competitors to improve their standings on the NCAA performance list.
Glavash, an All-American in the 800M indoor last season, had failed to post an NCAA qualifying mark until the meet in Iowa. The Chillicothe, Ill., native earned a provisional mark in the men's 800M with a time of 1:49.60. Glavash finished seventh in the event.
The men's 4x400M relay, which provisionally qualified at the Big 12 Championships, improved its mark on Saturday. The team of Brandon Washington, Tim Foster, Rodney Mims and Bryan Scott clocked a time of 3:08.21 to finish third. The relay finished fourth at the Big 12 meet with a time of 3:08.36.
Tech's hurdle crew competed in Ames from the Lied Recreation Center, which was the site of senior hurdler Marlon Odom's 60M hurdle title at the Big 12 meet. Odom finished with two provisional marks on Saturday in the 60M hurdles, but did not post a better mark than his 7.77 from the conference championships. Freshman Omo Osaghae finished fourth in the finals of the event, but missed any qualifying times.
The NCAA Championships will take place on March 9-10 from Fayetteville, Ark. Selections into the premier event will be announced on Monday, March 5th. A complete list of Red Raider athletes will be released on www.texastech.com as soon as information is available.
