WALNUT, Calif. - Texas Tech junior distance runner Ezekiel Kissorio turned in an impressive performance Thursday afternoon in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Texas Tech opened competition at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.
Kissorio ran a personal-best 8:54.92 to finish second overall in the open `A' division, and leap into the top-20 nationally in the event. The race marked his 2013 outdoor debut in the event, as Kissorio bettered his 2012 season-best by four seconds.
"It is a great way for Ezekiel to start the steeplechase this year with a personal-best," head cross country coach Jon Murray said. "There were several personal-bests in the group today. This was a good step towards the Big 12 meet."
