PHILADELPHIA  - Junior All-American and Philadelphia native Cierra White highlighted a full afternoon of action for Texas Tech Friday at the 120th Penn Relays .

The reigning Big 12 Champion and school record holder finished first overall in the preliminaries of the college women's 100-meter dash crossing the finish line in 11.48 seconds. With the performance, White automatically qualifies for the Championships of America final Saturday scheduled for 3:35 p.m. (EST).

"It means a lot," White said after the race. "It makes me proud. I felt a lot more confident than I usually do with so much support here. I was just happy to be around family and friends."

White, who finished sixth at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships as a sophomore, boasts a career-best of 11.09 in the event and entered the Penn Relays with a current season-best time of 11.30 - currently No. 3 in the Big 12.

Saturday, she will look to become Texas Tech's first-ever female to bring home a Championships of America trophy. Joining White in Saturday's finals will be the Lady Raider 4x400 relay team which punched its ticket to the Championships of America after finishing seventh in Thursday's preliminaries with a time of 3:39.12.

White went on to run the opening leg of the Lady Raiders' sprint medley relay which finished 8th in the Championships of America section with a time of 3:51.01 - just four seconds off the school record from 2005.

Meanwhile, the Red Raider 4x400 relay will compete in the college division final after finishing 11th among 89 teams with a time of 3:09.27. The relay consisted of Joseph Richards III, Dwayne Extol, Tommy Brinn and Alex Foster with the final set for 1:45 Saturday.

Also competing Friday, Trevor Mackey finished 11th in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.72 seconds. He was followed by freshman Treyvion Johnson in 17th, crossing the finish line in 10.89 seconds.

In the women's 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Le'Tristan Pledger - who broke the school record last week at Mt. SAC - finished 20th in 13.90. She also ran the opening leg on the women's shuttle hurdle relay team, which finished 11th in 1:01.70.

Tramaine Maloney finished 18th in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.39, and was followed by teammate Shujaa Benson in 19th with a 14.41.

Earlier in Friday's events, it was determined by meet officials that the Red Raiders will compete in Saturday's college division of the 4x100 relay following a miscue on the final exchange of the race. That race is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. at Franklin Field.
