LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's 4x400 competed in the Championship of America final while senior Monique Wright-Cruse raced in the 100-meter dash championships Saturday at the Penn Relays.

Wright-Cruise qualified for today's finals on Thursday by placing second in her heat with a time of 11.61 seconds. Today the senior turned in a time of 11.75 in the finals as she placed seventh.

The relay of Melonie Barrow, Rachelle Evans, LaDonna Begelton and Licretia Sibley qualified for this evenings prestigious Championship of America finals by running a heat time of 3:39.66 on Thursday, placing second in their heat. Only the top eight times were allowed to advance to the COA finals and Tech rose to the occasion, posting a time of 3:36.04 to place fourth and provisionally qualify for the 4x400 at the NCAA Championships in May.

Earlier this week, the women's 4x100 relay posted a top heat time of 46.30 and qualified for the College Finals, 9th-16th fastest heat times, where it placed seventh with a time of 46.06.

Both the men's and women's track teams will stay in the Hub-City this weekend as Tech hosts the Texas Tech Open, Friday, May 4.
