Lady Raider Relay Team Finishes Third at Penn Relays
Taylor Evans and the Lady Raider 4x400 relay team earned a third place finish Saturday at the Penn Relays.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lady Raider 4x400 relay team placed third overall Saturday in the Championships of America round of the Penn Relays as Texas Tech closed out competition at the 117th edition of the historic meet Saturday afternoon.
The relay squad, comprised of Precious Nwokey, Candace Jackson, Taylor Evans and Olivia Lewis ran a time of 3:35.37 Saturday at Franklin Field on the final day of competition at the University of Pennsylvania.
"It was a very exciting race," head coach Wes Kittley said. "We thought we had a chance to win it, we just didn't quite finish it like we wanted to. I was very pleased though."
The team qualified for the Championships of America after placing fifth in the preliminaries on Thursday with a time of 3:36.03.
Meanwhile, the Red Raider 4x400 relay team finished seventh overall in the finals with a time of 3:09.59. The squad qualified on Friday after placing fifth with a time of 3:10.06.
The Red Raider 4x100 relay team also placed seventh in the Championships of America with a mark of 40.19. The time improved upon their qualifying time of 40.40, which the squad ran on Friday. The 4x100 team includes Ben McRoy, Markus Henderson, Shane Brathwaite and Isaiah Gill.
After qualifying on Friday, Nwokey also competed in the finals of the women's 100 meter hurdles on Saturday where she placed sixth with a time of 13.57.
In the field events, senior Dellon Williams finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.85 meters (48'-8.75"). It marked his second best jump of the season. Teammate Travis Dunn followed with a mark of 14.17 meters (46'-6.00"), good for 14th.
Texas Tech returns home to host its final home meet of the outdoor season on May 5 at the Fuller Track and Field Complex.
