Okafor Wins Discus With National Top 10 Mark|
Ifeatu Okafor climbed to No. 9 nationally in the discus as Tech collected eight wins Saturday at the West Texas A&M Open.

CANYON, Texas. - Texas Tech collected eight first place finishes, and junior Ifeatu Okafor recorded a national Top 10 mark in the discus throw as the No. 9 Red Raiders and No. 11 Lady Raiders competed at the West Texas A&M Open Saturday.
Okafor recorded a throw of 55.43 meters (181'-10.00") to run away with the win in the women's discus event. The mark ranks No. 9 nationally and is the best mark by a Lady Raider since the 2009 season.
Okafor also earned a win in the shot put competition with a mark of 12.07 meters (39'-7.25").
Caitlin Waters and Kaci Westervelt also earned wins Saturday for the Lady Raiders. Waters won the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:12.59 while Westervelt finished first in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:27.89.
Sophomore Kole Weldon earned his fourth win of the outdoor season in the shot put with a toss of 17.36 meters (56'-11.50"), while freshman Killian Barry earned his earned his second win of the season in the hammer throw. Barry won with a mark of 57.22 meters (184'-5.00").
Sophomore Sirron Warren and freshman Kyle Thompson also collected wins for the Red Raiders on Saturday. Thompson earned his first career win in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 4.68 meters (15'-4.25"). Meanwhile, Warren placed first in the men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.70.
Texas Tech will return to action Saturday as the squad hosts its final home outdoor meet of the season with the Red Raider Open.
