LUBBOCK, Texas - In back-to-back races freshman Albert Booker and sophomore Tiffany Green set new school records in the 400- and 100-meter Saturday afternoon in the 2002 home finale at R.P. Fuller Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

Booker, a Trent, Texas, native outraced teammates Ivory McCann and Julieon Raeburn to win the 400 with a time of 45.73 seconds. The time was only .33 seconds off the NCAA automatic qualifying mark and sets a new Tech record breaking the previous time of 45.85 set in 1997 by All-American Desmond Johnson.

In the very next event, the women's 100-meter dash, last year's Big 12 Newcomer of the year Tiffany Green outran teammates Monique Wright-Cruse and Rachelle Stephenson finishing in first place with a time of 11.32. The Hamlin, Texas, native just missed the automatic qualifying time of 11.30 but broke Tami Zachary's previous record of 11.34.

The duo of Booker and Green also took first in the 200 with times of 21.14 and 23.78, respectively.

Tech dominated the small field of schools at the Texas Tech Open, turning in 21 first place finishes out of 38 events contested. The Red Raiders will have one more tune up before heading to the Big 12 Conference Championships in Columbia, Mo., on the 17th as they travel to Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas on Thurs., May 9th.

Other notable Tech finishes included Mike Beasley's high jump of 2.10-meters which provisionally qualifies him for the national meet while Megan Schuessler placed first in both the discus (48.73m) and the shot (13.92).
