EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 17 Lady Raiders continued action Thursday in Oregon with three athletes and one relay squad competing at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Texas Tech featured athletes in each the semifinals of the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay, but struggled to push any on to Saturday's finals. The slow day came on the heels of a successful start to the meet Wednesday where sophomore Kole Weldon finished third in the shot put and Tech advanced two athletes onto final rounds.
Sophomore sprinter Cierra White opened action on the track finishing ninth overall in the 200-meter dash where she crossed the finish line third in her heat with a time of 22.98 seconds. Following in the 100-meter hurdles, senior Katie Grimes finished fifth in her heat and 15th overall with a time of 13.22 seconds. She was followed by teammate and freshman Le'Tristan Pledger who finished seventh in the same heat and 19th overall with a time of 13.32 seconds. The highly-competitive field featured seven athletes who crossed the finish line in under 13 seconds.

The Canyon, Texas native owns each of the top-6 times in school history in the event, and twice advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She is also a two-time Big 12 Outdoor Runner-Up.
Pledger meanwhile was the only freshman in the country to advance to the NCAA Championships in the 100-meter hurdles. She also qualified in the long jump where she tied for eighth in the trials Wednesday before finishing ninth overall with a jump of 6.29-meters (20-feet 7.75 inches).
The Lady Raider 4x400 relay squad, comprised of Candace Jackson, Amoy Blake, Christen Rivers and Olivia Lewis brought Tech's evening to a close finishing fifth in its heat and 10th overall with a time of 3:34.06. It marked the team's second fastest performance this season.
The squad ran without the services of White who will compete in the finals of the 100-meter dash Friday.
