Sacramento, Calif. - The Texas Tech men's team looked to be in good position after two days of upsets at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships but Friday the 13th would prove to be very unlucky for the Red Raiders.

As one of the favorites in the pole vault Tech freshman Bobby Most would be looked upon to score big points for Tech on day three. But as fate would have it a strained hamstring suffered during warm ups would prevent the indoor All-American from even planting a pole at the second height of 17-feet, 4.5-inches. Most was one of two athletes to pass on the opening height of 16'-10.75'.

In the semifinals of the men's 400-meter dash Albert Booker posted a heat time of 46.92 and will not advance to the finals.

Tech's hopes of placing in the top 10 now hang on the final day of the championships. Jason Young will get the meet started Saturday at 4 p.m. (CST). Other events the Red Raiders will be competing in include Jonathan Johnson in the 800, Chad Pharis in the high jump and the 1,600-meter relay will close out the 2003 season at 11:30 p.m. (CST).
