LUBBOCK, TEXAS - The Texas Tech 2009 men and women indoor squads are both starting the season ranked 12th and ninth, respectively, according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association.

The Lady Raiders return All-Americans Patience Knight, D'Andra Carter and eight-time NCAA champion Sally Kipyego. The women finished tenth last season at the NCAA Indoor Championships and have the potential to be better than last season. A strong recruiting class of Lillian Badaru and Terra Evans mixed with veterans Gladys Kipsang, Ozie Okolie have the Lady Raiders ready for the new season.

The Red Raiders return All-Americans Anthony Flemons, Gil Roberts, Tim Foster, Rodney Mims and Omo Osaghae. The men finished 24th last season and have the number five ranked recruiting class according to Track and Field News. The additions of some talented freshman, including Brandon Tucker, Markus Henderson and Jamele Mason will keep the Red Raiders in the hunt for a Big 12 title.

Tech begins the season hosting the Texas Tech Invitational at the Athletic Training Center (ATC) starting on Fri., Jan. 16th and 17th.
