Just before snow began to fall in Lubbock Monday afternoon, the Texas Tech track and field team officially began practice inside the Athletic Training Facility on the Texas Tech campus.
The Red Raiders open their indoor season in just five days on Jan. 13 when they host the Texas Tech Open.
"There is a lot of excitement," head coach Wes Kittley said during the practice. "Everybody is ready to get back and get started."
Texas Tech will begin its season by hosting two consecutive indoor meets during the month of January before hitting the road for the Texas A&M Challenge on Jan 27. It's a style of scheduling that has been received favorably by members of the team.
"We are going to be doing a lot of traveling during the season so it's good that we get to these first couple of meets to kind of get into the swing of things before we start going other places." Senior Jamele Mason said.
Texas Tech returns 11 All-Americans from last season.
