Track and Field Set to Compete in Last Chance Meets

A total of 16 Texas Tech athletes will chase marks this weekend in hopes of qualifying for nationals next week.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team is sending 16 athletes across the country this weekend to compete in three separate meets in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor National meet next week.

The meets include the Arkansas Last Chance Meet (March 2-3), the Columbia Last Chance Meet at the Armory Track in New York, New York (March 2-3) and the Iowa State Last Chance Meet (March 3).

In Fayetteville, Ark. Kyal Meyers, Jacorian Duffield and Ifeatu Okafor will look to garner marks that will propel them into the national meet.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech distance runners Caroline Jepleting, Rose Tanui and Devin Bailey will compete in New York at the Columbia Last Chance Meet.

Finally, the Tech sprinters and 4x400 relay teams will compete at the Iowa State Last Chance meet. Last week, both the men's and women's relay teams recorded season-best times at the Big 12 Indoor Championships.

The NCAA National Indoor Meet is scheduled for March 9-10 in Boise, Ida.
