LUBBOCK, Texas -Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego has been named the Big 12 Indoor Female Performer of the Year. This is the second year in a row Kipyego has won the honor. The five-time national champion won the mile and the 3,000M and ran anchor on the distance medley relay at the Big 12 Championships.

Kipyego defended her titles in the mile and the 3000M with amazing performances. Her mile time of 4:36.31 set a Big 12 Championship record, school record and automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championships. The 3000M title was just as impressive as Kipyego weaved through a crowded field to a NCAA provisional time of 9:17.01.

The award was voted on by the Big 12 head track and field coaches. Kipyego will look to defend her national titles in the 3000M and at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. starting March 14.
