SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Texas Tech track and field team officially began the 2013 outdoor season Tuesday holding its first workout of the new season on the San Diego State University campus.

The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders completed a two-hour workout at the San Diego State Sports Deck in preparation for the 35th Annual Aztec Invitational meet this weekend.

Texas Tech is coming off one of the most successful indoor seasons in school history as the Red Raiders finished fifth overall at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships - the highest finish for the men's squad in school history. Meanwhile, seniors Bryce Lamb and Kennedy Kithuka each won national titles and eight total student-athletes earned All-America First Team honors.

Collegiate divisions of the Aztec Invitational are scheduled to begin Friday and continue all day Saturday.
