Candace Jackson and the Lady Raider 4x400 Relay team had a historic run through the 2012 indoor season.
March 15, 2012
On the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho, the women's 4x400 relay team continued its historic run by capping off the indoor season with a Top 8 finish in the national meet. The squad ran a blazing time of 3:35.66 to finish second in its heat and seventh overall. The time was the third fastest of the season, and secured a first-team All-American status for the team.
What it Meant:
The squad ended the year by running three of the top five times in school history, solidifying itself as one of the program's best indoor relay teams. The 2012 indoor squad was comprised of Taylor Evans, Candace Jackson, Erica Alexander and Olivia Lewis. Alexander, Evans and Jackson each earned All-American honors in the outdoor 4x400 relay just last year. On the heels of the historic 2012 indoor season, the squad will be looking to break the school record of 3:29.49 set back in 2004.
Assistant Coach Dion Miller's Take:
"That performance showed what our young ladies are capable of doing. That was a pretty good run and when you are looking at the quality of runs of the people that qualified, you have to have some pretty good people in the relays to get a time like that. It was an indicator, and showed what we are capable of doing. Hopefully we can put it all together heading into outdoors."
