LUBBOCK, Texas - The newly ranked No. 3 Red Raider and No. 12 Lady Raiders track teams are set for its second meet of the season and will run Sat., March 26 in El Paso, Texas, at the UTEP Springtime Invitational.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches preseason outdoor rankings came out yesterday and the Tech men at No. 3 are the highest since 2005. Both teams will be looking to continue its strong start to the season.

Sophomore Shade Weygandt will be making her outdoor debut. The All-American had a season-best jump of 14'-2.75" (4.34M) last year at the Big 12 Championships. She improved on her personal best during this past indoor season clearing 14'-5.25" (4.40M).

Big 12 Female Athlete of the Week Kelsey Lloyd will be competing in the 100M hurdles and will try to lower her school record of 13.25. The Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week will also be running in the 110M hurdles. Omo Osaghae set the school record with a 13.49 and will be after a faster time.

Julian Wruck, who leads the NCAA in the discus, will compete in the both the shot put and discus. His best throw in the discus this season is 197'-2" (60.10M). Teammate Bryce Brown will run the 400M this weekend instead of the 400M hurdles. The senior leads the NCAA in the 400M hurdles with a time of 49.72.

The UTEP Springtime Invitational starts with field events at 10 a.m. and running events at 3 p.m.
