Two Tech Athletes Enter Week No. 1 Nationally|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 16 Red Raiders and No. 17 Lady Raiders enter the week with two athletes atop the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field national rankings as the program now eyes the annual Texas Relays.
Sophomore thrower Kole Weldon, after recording a toss of 19.43-meters (63'-9.00") to open his 2013 outdoor campaign, leads the country in the event while sophomore sprinter Cierra White also leads the nation in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08 seconds.
The pair of Tech athletes highlight a group of 11 student-athletes ranked in the top 20 nationally, and set now compete this weekend at the prestigious 86th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin.
White, a 2013 Indoor All-American as a member of the Lady Raider 4x400 relay, is also ranked No. 2 nationally in the 200-meter dash after breaking the school record with a wind-legal time of 22.91 seconds last weekend at the UTEP Invitational.
Senior hurdler Kate Grimes currently holds the No. 5 time in the women's 100-meter hurdles after opening the season with a first place finish at the Aztec Invitational and a time of 13.48 seconds.
Freshman Hannah Carson also holds a top-5 mark as she enters the Texas Relays No. 4 in the women's javelin with a throw of 50.12-meters (164'-5.00") at the Aztec Invitational.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders will open competition Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
