Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech sophomore Bobby Evers, a member of the track and field team was honored by the Big 12 conference as the Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. This is the first honor of Evers' career.

Evers finished first in the long jump and third in the triple jump (48'-3.25") at the UNLV Invitational. The Brownwood, Texas native won the long jump with the second-best mark in the country this season, 25'-4.75". The leap was also a regional qualifying mark and a personal best. He is currently ranked second in the conference in the long jump and the triple jump.

Texas Tech track and field will be competing in the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, in Austin, Wed., April 5 through Sat., April 8. For complete details of Texas Relays, visit www.texassports.com.
