Red Raiders, Lady Raiders Enter Week With 9 Athletes in Top 20

LUBBOCK, Texas - On the heels of a record-breaking performance this weekend at the Texas Tech Open, the No. 13 Lady Raiders and No. 14 Red Raiders enter this week represented by nine athletes in the top 20 of the national outdoor performance list.
Two athletes, sophomore Lady Raider Cierra White and senior Bryce Lamb, appear in the top-20 in two separate events while sophomore Kole Weldon leads the contingent currently ranked No. 2 nationally in the men's shot put.
Five of Texas Tech's nationally ranked marks occurred this weekend at the Texas Tech Open.
White owns a season-best time of 11.12 seconds in the 100-meter dash and a season-best time of 22.91 in the 200-meter dash while pacing the Big 12 in both events. The Philadelphia native enters the week at No. 3 nationally in both the 100-meter and 200-meter.
Lamb, who entered the Texas Tech Open with a season-best mark of 7.57-meters (24'-10") in the long jump (No. 13 nationally) leapt to No. 8 nationally in the triple jump with a mark of 15.89-meters (52'-1.75") Saturday.
Texas Tech junior Ezekiel Kissorio also made an impressive leap into the national rankings landing at No. 8 in the men's 1,500-meter run following a second place finish this weekend with a time of 3:46.39.
Lady Raider senior Katie Grimes also jumped into the top 10 after breaking her own school and facility record Saturday in the 100-meter hurdles. Grimes crossed the finish line in just 13.15 seconds to finish first overall at the Texas Tech Open and land at No. 7 nationally in the event.
Meanwhile, the Lady Raider 4x400 relay enters the week at No. 11 in the national outdoor rankings with a season-best time of 3:33.52. The women's 4x100 relay checks in at No. 13 after running a time of 44.57 Saturday at the Texas Tech Open.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders return to action this weekend in Austin at the UT Invitational scheduled for Saturday.
