LUBBOCK, Texas - Both the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders remained in the top 15 of the weekly United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings released Tuesday.
The two squads each appeared at No. 14 in the Week 2 edition as Tech prepares to compete at the UT Invitational Saturday in Austin. Texas Tech is one of just two Big 12 schools to have both its men's and women's teams in the top 15.
The Red Raiders appear at No. 14 for the second consecutive week after appearing at No. 16 in the outdoor preseason rankings. Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders fell one spot after climbing to No. 13 last week.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders are coming off a record breaking performance after hosting the Texas Tech Open Saturday, and enter this week with nine student-athletes appearing in the top 20 of the national outdoor performance list.
The ranking marks the 34th consecutive week in which the Red Raiders have appeared in the top 20 of the regular season USTFCCCA computer rankings and the 48th consecutive appearance in the top 25 dating back to 2008. Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders have appeared in the top 25 of every regular season ranking since the start of the 2012 season.
