LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior and 2013 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meter Champion Kennedy Kithuka remained on The Bowerman Watch List as the April edition was released Wednesday afternoon.

Kithuka joins a list of 10 elite track and field athletes from across the nation, and is one of just two men's athletes from the Big 12 appearing on the official watch list. The Bowerman will be awarded following the conclusion of the outdoor season in June and recognizes the top men's and women's athletes in collegiate track and field.

During a prolific 2013 indoor track season, Kithuka became Texas Tech's first male NCAA Champion in the men's 5,000-meter run while also capturing Big 12 titles in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter run. Kithuka recorded the nation's fastest time in the 5,000-meter run for the 2013 indoor season after clocking a school record time of 13:26.65 at the Tyson Invitational. The performance was more than 10 seconds faster than the second best collegiate time of the season.

The Thika, Kenya native also won the 2012 NCAA cross country championship after going undefeated in seven races and winning the Big 12 and Mountain Region crowns in the process.
