LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team received some well-deserved attention today as they are ranked 22nd on the Trackwire 25 poll. This is the first top 25 ranking of the outdoor season.

Several athletes make a repeat appearance on the Dandy Dozen while one makes his first appearance. Freshman Sage Thames is 10th in the pole vault after clearing a mark of 17'-10.50" at the Michael Johnson Invitational. Junior Bobby Most joins Thames on the list, in eighth.

After running the fastest time in the nation and the second-fastest in the world with a 1:46.32, junior Jonathan Johnson is ranked second in the 800m. Johnson also received the honor of tri-male Big 12 Athlete of the Week for his performance. Senior Jason Young holds the eight spot in the discus with a season best throw of 196'-10". Senior Aki Heikkinen is currently in eighth in the decathlon.

The men's 4x400 relay team is ranked eighth while the women's 4x400 relay team is also on the list with a 10th spot ranking.
