Tech Enters Final Home Meet Well Represented in National Rankings|
Sophomore Cierra White owns national top-10 times in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field program enters its final home meet of the 2013 outdoor season well represented in the NCAA Division I National Outdoor Qualifying List. The program is represented by 12 performances scattered across the top-20 of the national rankings ahead of the Red Raider Open set for April 25.
The contingent is led by four top-five marks including Texas Tech sophomore Kole Weldon who is No. 2 nationally in the men’s shot put by over a foot with a season-best mark of 19.43-meters (63’-9.00”).
Meanwhile, Lady Raider sophomore sprinter Cierra White owns top 10 times in both the women’s 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. White sits at No. 4 in the 100-meter dash with season-best of 11.12 seconds (adjusted from 11.09 seconds for altitude), and No. 7 in the women’s 200-meter dash with a season-best of 22.91 seconds.
Both the Lady Raider 4x100 and 4x400 relays along with the men's 4x400 relay also enter the week in the top-20.
A pair of senior hurdlers in Katie Grimes and Isaiah Gill will enter their final home meet ranked in the top-five nationally. Grimes jumped into the top five of the women’s 100-meter hurdles after tying her career best at the Mt. SAC Relays this weekend where she crossed the finish line in 12.99 seconds. Meanwhile, Gill finished first overall in the men’s Olympic Development Elite section this weekend with a time of 50.58 seconds – the No. 5 time in the nation.
The Red Raider Open is set for Thursday at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex with field events beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the throws facility and running events on the track slated for a 6 p.m. start.
