Tech Hosts Red Raider Open Thursday|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field program is set to host its final home outdoor meet of the 2013 season Thursday as the No. 15 Lady Raiders and No. 18 Red Raiders compete in the Red Raider Open.
Field events for the single-day midweek meet are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Texas Tech Throws Area with running events beginning on the Terry and Linda Fuller Track at 6 p.m.
The Red Raider Open will serve as the final tune up for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships set for May 3-5 in Waco, Texas.
"We always love competing at home," head coach Wes Kittley said. "This will be a great opportunity for our fans to come out and see us compete one final time before the Big 12 Championships next week. We always get great marks on our home track and we are looking to do that again tomorrow."
Texas Tech enters the meet with nine individual performances and three relays appearing in the top-20 of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying list. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders return to the track where five athletes record national top-20 performances at the Texas Tech Open on April 6.
Texas Tech enters this week led by sophomore sprinter Cierra White who ranks in the top 10 nationally in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. White's season-best of 11.12 (adjusted from 11.09 for altitude) in the 100-meter dash ranks No. 4 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12. Meanwhile, her season-best and school record of 22.91 in the 200-meter dash is No. 7 nationally and No. 11 in the world.
Red Raider freshman Joseph Richards III has also turned in an impressive 2013 campaign and enters this week No. 4 in the Big 12 in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 46.60 (adjusted for altitude).HURDLES
Texas Tech hurdlers turned in an impressive performance last week at the Mt. SAC Relays. Red Raider senior Isaiah Gill won the Olympic Development Elite Section of the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 50.58 seconds to leap to No. 5 nationally in the event and No. 2 in the Big 12. Meanwhile fellow senior Katie Grimes tied her career best in the 100-meter hurdles with a 12.99 at the Mt. SAC Relays. The time also jumped her to No. 5 nationally in the event and No. 20 in the world. Tramaine Maloney swept his sections of the men's 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays and enters this week No. 3 in the Big 12 in the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 13.94. DISTANCE
Texas Tech junior Ezekiel Kissorio leads the pack of Texas Tech distance runners entering this week as he is ranks in the top 25 in both the men's 1,500-meter run and most recently the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kissorio finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays where he recorded a personal-best time of 8:54.92 - currently No. 2 in the Big 12. His season-best of 3:46.39 in the 1,500-meter run is currently No. 8 in the Big 12.
Texas Tech's Jacorian Duffield and Bradley Adkins will lead Texas Tech high jumpers this weekend both having cleared a season-best 2.13-meters (6'-11.75"). The mark ranks No. 19 in the West Region and No. 2 in the Big 12. Adkins is coming off a third place finish at the Big 12 Indoor Championships while Duffield qualified for the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships as a freshman and has cleared four bars over 7-feet during his outdoor career.
