LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raider track and field team earned its sixth-straight Top-10 national ranking as Texas Tech will officially enter the Big 12 Championships at No. 6 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings released Tuesday.

The Red Raiders host the conference meet beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex. Tech enters the Big 12 Championships with conference leading marks in four separate men's events.

Senior distance runner Kennedy Kithuka leads the conference in the 5,000-meter run with a school record and national-leading time of 13:26.98, while teammate Evans Tuitoek paces the league in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best of 8:51.62.

Kithuka is also No. 2 in the Big 12 in the 10,000-meter run after breaking the school record at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 27:41.73.

In the field events, junior Red Raider JaCorian Duffield leads the Big 12 in the high jump with a school record clearance of 2.27-meters (7-feet 5.25 inches). Teammate Bradley Adkins follows at No. 2 in the conference rankings with a career-best mark of 2.21-meters (7'-3").

Meanwhile, junior Kole Weldon paces the conference in the men's discus throw with a career-best mark of 62.05-meters (203'-7"). He's also No. 2 in both the shot put and hammer, and was the only athlete in the Big 12 to earn All-Conference honors in all three events at the Big 12 Championships last year in Waco.
