Track and Field Lands 20 on Academic All-Big 12 Team|
Texas Tech placed 20 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field program placed 20 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Team as announced by the conference office today.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders combined to place 17 student-athletes on the First Team which recognizes individuals with a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher.
Dwayne Extol, Kyle Gooch, Kory Mauritsen, Kendall McVey, Ramon Rueda, Kyle Thompson, Marcos Vallejo and Daniel Wedell represented the Red Raiders on the First Team. Meanwhile, Hannah Carson, Gionna Jackson, Madeline Livergood, Sharlene Nickle, Michaela Palu, Kelly McQuaid, J'Cee Pool, Tiffany Tarver, and Caitlin Waters represented the Lady Raiders on the First Team.
To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Texas Tech hosts the Big 12 Championships beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex. Full coverage of the meet can be found on TexasTech.com.
