Red Raiders, Lady Raiders Enter West Preliminary in Top 20

Texas Tech is one of just two Big 12 programs with both its men's and women's teams in the top-20.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Both the Texas Tech men's and women's track and field teams will officially enter the NCAA West Preliminary meet ranked in the top-20 of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country computer rankings.

The Red Raiders checked in at No. 16 and the Lady Raiders at No. 20 Tuesday morning as the official coaches association released the Week 8 rankings.  

Texas Tech is one of just two Big 12 programs with both the men's and women's teams appearing in the top-20 of the national rankings.

Texas Tech qualified 23 athletes and three relays squads for the NCAA West Preliminaries scheduled for May 23-25 in Austin, Texas. The meet serves as the first round of the NCAA Championships with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to the national championship meet set for June 5-8 at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
