LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lady Raider track and field team jumped three spots in the national rankings to No. 17 this week as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Week 9 rankings Tuesday. It marks the final edition of the national rankings before the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders compete June 5-8 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.

The Lady Raiders are fresh off an impressive showing at the NCAA West Preliminaries where five athletes and two relay squads punched their ticket to the national meet. Two Lady Raiders, Cierra White and Le'Tristan Pledger qualified for the NCAA meet in multiple events.

White, the 2013 Big 12 100-meter Champion, qualified in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash along with both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay. Pledger qualified in both the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles.

The Lady Raiders have been ranked in the top-20 throughout the entire 2013 outdoor season, peaking at No. 13 in Week 2. The Red Raiders dropped out of the top-25 for the first time in a regular season poll since the 2008 season.
