Two Red Raiders to Compete at USA Junior Championships|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Two Texas Tech student-athletes will be headed to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the 2008 USA Junior Track & Field Championships. Freshman Michelle Guzman and Gil Roberts will be competing this weekend for a trip to the IAAF World Junior Championships.
Gil Roberts in his first year of competition for Tech, earned All-American honors as apart of the 4x400M relay team that placed sixth last weekend at the NCAA Championships. He will be competing in the 400M as he has the fourth fastest time of the qualifiers with a 46.21.
Michelle Guzman will be competing in the 5,000M and has the 13th fastest qualifying time of 17:34.98. She placed 11th in the event at the Big 12 Championships this past season.
Future Red Raiders who have signed for the fall, will be competing for a spot for the IAAF Junior Championships as well. Jamele Mason (Houston, Texas) will be competing in the 110M hurdles and 400M hurdles. He has the fastest time in the 110M hurdles with a time of 13.44 and the 10th fastest time of 52.22 in the 400M hurdles. Markus Henderson (Lewisville, Texas) will be running the 200M and has the third fastest time of 20.84. Sprinter Terra Evans (Phoenix, Ariz.) will also be competing in the 100M and 200M She is ranked fifth with a time of 11.37 in the 100M and 14th with a time of 23.72 in the 200M.
Competition will begin Fri., June 20th with the first round of competition.
