BRIDGETOWN - Texas Tech senior hurdler Shane Brathwaite finished third at the Barbados National Championships in the 110 meter hurdles Saturday to officially secure his trip to the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Brathwaite crossed the line with a time of 13.63 and secured his spot on the Barbados Olympic Team with the top-three finish. Brathwaite entered the national championships having already hit the Olympic qualifying mark during the NCAA Outdoor season.

The Texas Tech standout sprint hurdler ended his stellar career earlier this month with a seventh place finish in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships to earn first team All-American honors.

Brathwaite finished his senior season with six top-five finishes and two first place finishes in the 110 meter hurdles. He recorded a season-best time of 13.43 in the finals at the Texas Relays in March. The time ranked No. 6 on the final NCAA Division I outdoor performance list.

Brathwaite also earned second team All-American honors as a member of the 4x100 relay team.
