LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Patience Knight qualified for the finals of the shot put at the U.S. Olympic Trials being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The two-time All-American was the 12th qualifier with at throw of 53'-9". The finals of the shot put will be on Sat. at 1:50 p.m. PT.

Jason Young, a Texas tech strength and conditioning coach, qualified for the finals of the discus as well. He had a throw of 197'-00" to place 11th in qualifying. The finals of the men's discus will be on Sun. at 2:20 p.m. PT.

Shawon Harris will begin his U.S. Olympic Trials on Sat. at 11:25 a.m. PT with the 110M hurdles.
